Reece & I were married two weeks ago on a brisk but beautiful Saturday afternoon. It was intimate, romantic, sentimental and stylish; everything I had imagined it would be. Besides a slight oversight in booking a limo which left us waiting in the cold for an hour or so, everything ran perfectly.
As we eagerly await the official snaps and footage of the day from our talented team of photographers & videographers, I thought I'd share a sneaky look at some of the snaps taken by guests and suppliers that I've managed to get my hands on so far. I've also included the details of our big day & a compressive list of our fabulous vendors and suppliers.
We wanted a civil ceremony, because neither of us are religious. We chose the Jarrah room at the Cottesloe Civic Centre because it had an elegant & reverent atmosphere. The team from White Events styled the room with soft candlelight, hanging florals, our crown motif and some great lighting.
Our Celebrant was Dilhari from Kiss Me You Fool. She was able to give us a quirky and informal ceremony, which suited us to a tee. It was important to us both that our celebrant was flexible on making it known to our guests that we did not agree with the formal (but legally required) statement that marriage is between a man and a woman. I've copped a bit of flack for this, but I dont for a moment regret it. It is an issue very close to both of our hearts. We wrote our own vows and decided not to have any readings, so we could catch the last of the sunlight for our photos afterwards.
I walked down the aisle to 'The Blowers Daughter' by Damien Rice and our recessional was to one of our favourite songs, 'Thank You' by The Whitlams.
Our guests arrived at Sandleford Estate Winery in the Swan Valley to canapés, champagne and a string quartet (a beautiful gift from Reece's mother). Our formal Reception was a 3 course sit down meal in The Oak Room. Again, the team from White Events & Zinnia Floral Design worked wonders.
The bridal party was announced to Beyonce's 'Love On Top' and we got straight to business, cutting the cake (made by Marguerite Cakes) and getting speeches out of the way in the first 30 minutes before entrees were served.
We saved money by not having a DJ or band. We asked for song requests from our guests with their RSVP cards, and I put together a playlist on my iPad, which we simply plugged in and played. You can find our playlists below.
We had our first dance to this acoustic version of Sam Smith's 'Latch'. We danced for the first two minutes, and then invited his mum and my Dad to step in with us, respectively. Despite dancing most of my life, I can safely say I was relived when our jig was up and I could just snow ball with my dad. It was one of my favourite moments, but heavy beaded dresses with a bustle and fancy footwork don't exactly mix!
We did a grand exit, with out guests forming two lines and an arch for us to duck through as they showered us in glitter confetti. Another highlight and super warm moment for me,
