Last week was a real doozy. The outstanding action items on my wedding list were stacking up. A member of my bridal party called to let me know they'd no longer be able to make it to the wedding. I realised I had three assignments due, rather than the one I had expected. I had workshop choreography to finish for the weekend. We'd been getting a visit from some kind of rodent at night, so I needed to make plans to house the dog elsewhere for the week and set traps/bait. My period arrived and my hormones went absolutely bat-shit crazy.
The last thing I felt like doing was planning, shopping and prepping real and hearty food. It just wasn't going to happen. Sometimes you just need to admit defeat.
Enter perth-based company and my saviour, Nood.
Nood is a great local operation that provide quick, fresh and healthy eats in neat little packets that are a total god-send for the weeks when it is all just a bit much. I found them by accident, while picking up milk on the way home from the Brighton Road Food Market.
At $12-$16 a pop, they're certainly not something we can afford to have in our fridge every week. However I can assure you they're worth the splurge in times of need, especially when you consider how much you'd spend on fast food/take away otherwise. They're tasty, they last the week and they offer plenty of variety.
The dishes I tried last week and loved included;
- Roast Vegetable Earth Bowl with Herbed Chicken (absolute favourite!)
- Satay Tofu with Cauliflower Fried Rice
- Organic Beef Chilli with Brown Rice, Slaw & Cashew Cream
- Zucchini Noodle Spaghetti
There are also a plethora of amazing recipes on the Nood website that I can't wait to try once I'm back in the groove of home based meal prep!
The other thing I like to do, when I know I'm not going to have time to prep a tonne of fruit and veggies during the week, is to drink my greens.
Another great Perth company stocked at my local market, is JuicyQ, who offer a really delicious range of cold pressed juices full of good stuff! My personal favourites are the Cool Beet (beetroot, cucumber, apple,lemon, broccoli & ginger) , Green Light (pineapple, apple, kale, lemon, mint, zucchini & spinach) & 9 Cleaner (cucumber, apple, kale, lemon, celery, ginger & coconut water).
